Set on a hilltop in the Krabbesholm Forest in Denmark, Restaurant Rosenhøj quietly reflects the surrounding landscape, infusing its recently modernized design with influences drawn from nature. Minimalist lines and glass facades reflect the trees and terrain, while the interior is filled with natural materials that bring the outdoors in, mirroring the quiet stillness of the woods.

On the restaurant’s interior walls, Søuld Fragments forms a cohesive surface that integrates naturally into the interior’s rhythm. The natural texture of the tiles, paired with subtle shifts in orientation, creates depth and shadow, enhancing the tactile quality of eelgrass. The modular format also allows flexibility in an older building where walls and angles are not perfectly aligned. The designer aimed to soften the sound in the restaurant’s various zones while preserving the architectural integrity of the space and ultimately creating a calm atmosphere where conversations can unfold comfortably, even during larger events.

The expansive space enjoys scenic views of the Boston harbor in a rapidly developing area considered the city’s most desirable life-science neighborhood. The reimagined lobby combines an array of natural materials that play off the surrounding landscape, including a towering, custom-designed Flow installation in Linar Flexible Wood with a custom white oak veneer over natural MDF. The wall flows and undulates along the lobby’s twenty-foot entrance below a flowing ceiling installation, both of which mimic the building’s curved exterior.

A fitting nod to the space’s innovative inhabitants, Linar Flexible Wood features a complex incision process that allows it to have textile-like properties. The installation trickles over a custom-installed shelf in a communal seating area that fits snugly into the wall’s curves without disrupting the gentle flow and atmosphere.

Recognized particularly within an emerging renaissance in Miami’s urban landscape, Arquitectonica pushes the limits of design with its innovative use of materials, geometry, and pattern. The spaces recently designed for Casimir Holdings, a private investment firm located in Miami, exemplify this approach.

Turning corners and lining the walls of the office’s open workspace, ARO Plank 2 in dark Embossed Tipped upholstery leather creates a striking effect that plays up the space’s high contrast, minimal color palette, and repeated patterning typical of Arquitectonica’s aesthetic. A full-grain leather with a hand-tipped surface, Embossed Tipped features a pebble grain pattern with a consistent, uniform grain that adds subtle texture to this eye-catching office.

At the entrance to their offices in Tampa, Florida, an eye-catching backdrop in Janus Flexible Wood greets guests at the lobby’s front desk. The rich tones of Douglas Fir add warmth to the space, while the incised surface adds a rich texture that draws the eye up. The Flexible Wood panel cleverly divides space and conceals the space’s waiting area while allowing light to filter through.

A century later, award-winning Shim Projects redeveloped the area as a luxury apartment community with spectacular oceanfront views. An ARO Plank 1 feature wall and banquette in Cascia welcomes residents as it brings luxury and comfort to the forefront. Named for a town in the mountainous southeastern corner of Umbria, Cascia is a supple and velvety leather that reveals all the natural characteristics of premium full grain leather.

Sling Pulls in a vibrant red elevate the typical door and drawer pull while staying true to the whimsy necessary in a room designed for play. In a conference room, Lisboa acoustic cork tiles cover the wall above a built-in bench. By combining five standard tiles, a custom linear design meanders across the wall while providing a sound softening boost. Elsewhere, a series of touch-down rooms feature Muro Plus wall panels in four leathers. The mix of finished and sueded leathers gives a play of textures and depths to enliven the small spaces.

The design of the showroom and office space balances classic and natural materials of marble, copper, and the cork of Porto 1. Inspired by the familiar texture of rounded silos on factory buildings in its namesake city in Portugal, the cork tiles are made from a renewable resource and produced in a waste-free molding process to create timeless a design that’s easy on the planet.
